A TASTE OF THE 2017 SUMMER FESTIVAL ‘BORYEONG MUD FESTIVAL’ AT GWANGHWAMUN, SEOUL!
The first thing that comes to one’s mind when they hear ‘Boryeong’ will most definitely be ‘Boryeong Mud Festival’.
Every mid-July, Boryeong Daecheon Beach hosts a mud festival open to all foreigners and locals alike. It has been popular to Koreans for a while and it is also rapidly gaining international fans. They say that there are those who have never been to the festival but there are none who have only been there once.
Having awarded the grand prize in Korea Festival Contents Awards in 2016, Boryeong Mud Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary on the upcoming festival. In celebration of its coming-of-age, Boryeong has designated 2017 as [Visiting Boryeong Year]. Who could resist the mud festival that will blow away the summer heat?
The mud festival is in July. So while we wait, let’s enjoy a semi- Boryeong Mud Festival in Gwanghwamun, Seoul!
For those who haven’t gotten the chance to experience Boryeong Mud Festival, grab the opportunity to experience in advance of what the festival is like on June 4, 2017, Sunday from 9am to 4pm at Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul! Boryeong City will be holding ‘Semi-Boryeong Mud Festival Hands-on and Promotion booth’.
To give you a taste of the upcoming Boryeong Mud Festival, the city has prepared mud slides and mud tubs. They will sell mud cosmetics and also have color mud booth, Boryeong VR tour booth, and various booths where you can experience the festival so you can visit the place together with your friends and children. If you wish to try out the booths, you must bring extra dry clothes to change into! Also, wear clothes that you don’t mind destroying or having it soiled, literally.
Also, don’t miss the ‘Mud Song Dance’, quiz shows where you can win mud cosmetics, and Boys 24’s congratulatory performance! Visit Gwanghwamun as your family outing or to hang out with your friends and experience the mud festival and enjoy various entertainment in stored for you!
WHAT ABOUT THE ACTUAL BORYEONG MUD FESTIVAL?
After experiencing semi-Boryeong Mud Festival in advance at Gwanghwamun, Seoul, you must come to Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do in mid-July! In the actual festival, we have mud massage, gigantic mud tub, mud mob scene, color mud, mud air bounce, mud flat experience, opening performance of the mud festival, mud rock festival, and hip hop- rave party ready for you to enjoy. This is a hands-on festival where everyone will get to put natural mud all over their bodies, roll and simply enjoy the festival with everyone.
Simply playing in mud is already beneficial to the skin since mud is effective in removing spots, freckles, and blemish and regenerating skin as well. In Korea, mud from Boryeong is the most popular among other regions. The natural mud taken from the mud flat of Boryeong not only has various minerals but components beneficial to the skin as well which are excellent in hydrating and maintaining moisture in dry skin and removing wastes and sebum inside the skin.
