We are honored to invite representatives of the foreign press to the 22nd Boryeong Mud Festival. It is the most popular summer event in Korea, yearly attracting several million visitors – out of which are over 600,000 international guests, making it a truly global experience. 10 days of mud games, mud baths, and beach parties, together with the biggest K-pop acts and some of the most spectacular traditional performances, have earned the festival its international fame. Three years in a row, Boryeong Mud Festival has been chosen as Korea’s Representative Festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. This year’s Mud Festival will be held from 19th of July to 28th of July at its traditional venue – Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, South Korea. The 22nd, 2019 Boryeong Mud Festival will pave its way for the upcoming 2022 Boryeong Sea Mud Exhibition, a project that was recently accepted by the Korean Government. Boryeong was selected as a World Festival and Event City at the 2018 63rd IFEA (International Festivals and Events Association) World Conference in San Diego, thus Korea is pushing Boryeong as one of its representative cities for tourism and globalism. The 2022 Boryeong Sea Mud Exhibition is expected to aid in the future development of leisure, tourism, health, and the therapeutic industry. Along with the project's acceptance by the government, Boryeong is expected to receive support of up to 14.5 billion KRW. It is also expected to increase local jobs, and bring in more international customers, and eventually will help to promote marine tourism and leisure activities within the area.
The largest beach in the West Coast, in Boryeong-si, Chungnam; Daecheon Beach will be open to the public on June 15th. Boryeong-si Officials have stated to open Daecheon Beach from June 15th, to August 18th, for a total of 65 days. With a length of up to 3.5 km, Daecheon Beach is one of the hottest attractions along the West Coast, and last year, up to 13 Million visitors, both local and foreigners visited the beach. On the Opening day, 15th, to celebrate the opening of the beach, there will be a Boryeong Marathon Contest, while on July 19th ~ 28th, Boryeong will host its 22nd annual Boryeong Mud Festival.
